Who says that diesel SUVs have to be clumsy? Since the first Touareg edition, and now with the various Q7, Tiguan, Q3 and Q5 variants, ABT Sportsline has shown that this does indeed not have to be so. The Bavarian art of engineering has rendered these best selling models not only very individual but also very dynamic, especially the new ABT SQ5, based upon the Audi SQ5. This car guarantees high-end sportiness and huge power reserves with which it also becomes an ideal towing vehicle. To put it in figures: The serial 313 hp (230 kW) have been “ABT Sportslined” to 360 hp or 265 kW. Torque has been increased from 650 to an enormous 700 Nm. The 3 liter V6’s performance curve is particularly impressive: In the ABT SQ5 it evenly unfolds its power at all revs and pushes the car, which weighs almost 2 tons, ahead with much aplomb.
It goes without saying that you can tell where the ABT SQ5 comes from by simply looking at it. The design elements underscore its sportiness and have been developed for the Q5 in particular. If you want you can choose an extravagant and assertive wide-body version here as well. This also makes the SQ5 dominant in visual terms. But be it wide-body or the normal version, the car is impressive at any rate: Front grille and front skirt show that this one is muscular. In combination with the fender extensions, the door strip attachments and the rear wing, they make this SUV a striking vehicle – especially since the CoG is lowered by ABT suspension springs. You can simply see that this is always the right car in any situation – be it in front of an opera house, in a golf resort, on the motorway or on bendy mountain roads. The ABT SQ5 is always a Super Quick vehicle and a hot car.
We recommend the ABT Sportsline sport-type wheels. It’s up to you which one you want. After all, they all fit this elegant SUV and are all weight-optimised. Available are the CR (in 20 and 22 inches), DR (in 20, 21 and 22 inches) and the ER-C (in 20 inches). The latter, with its five double spokes, underscores the dynamism of the ABT SQ5 in particular: One strut of each pair is bent, which leaves a very powerful impression.
At the same time, the design is elegant and chic. It goes without saying that all wheels are also available with high-performance tires. After all, one ABT Sportsline credo has always been: “It all comes down to the details.“
The new ABT SQ5 expands the high-quality, sporty SUV range by another highlight. “The car provides luxury and dynamism, is a true travel companion that can also pull a trailer,” is how Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of the globally largest tuner of cars produced by the Volkswagen Group, summarises it.
