The third-generation Opel Combo sets new standards in the European Van-B segment with its wide variety of models, modern engine portfolio and best-in-class results in terms of functionality and utility. The wide Opel Combo model range meets a broad spectrum of needs, from professional use in business or industry to a versatile multi-purpose family and leisure vehicle. A total of 108 Combo variants are available.

The spectrum of models comprises two basic types of bodywork: those with short and long wheelbases (2,755/3,105 mm). Both types are available in van form as a panel van or in a five to seven-seat passenger version. The variants with short wheelbase can also be ordered with standard or high roofs. With its diversity of talents, the new Combo is the perfect model to round off Opel’s product portfolio in the area of light vans.

 Best-in-class payload and load capacity

The panel van version boasts impressive figures in key areas: payload (up to one ton including driver), load capacity (up to 4.6 m3), rear axle load (up to 1.45 tons), load length (3,400 mm with front passenger seat folded down), load height (1,550 mm), rear door opening (height/width: 1,455/1,231 mm), and lowest loading bay threshold (545 mm).

The dimensions of the loading bay facilitate the transportation of particularly bulky goods. The width of the loading bay between the wheel arches is 1,230 mm, from wall to wall it is 1,714 mm. The height of the interior space is 1,305 mm with a standard roof or 1,550 mm in the high roof version. The short wheelbase variants can additionally be fitted with a roof flap, enabling the transportation of very long items such as ladders, pipes, etc.

For passenger transport, there is the Combo passenger vehicle with five seats and a short or long wheelbase. An optional seven-seat passenger vehicle variant with short wheelbase is also available as a special order with high roof. The passenger car versions offer impressive transport capabilities with a load capacity of up to 3,200 liters (long wheelbase) and payload of up to 800 kg. A choice of doors ensure easy and comfortable access to the load area and cabin: asymmetrical double-wing rear doors, a tailgate and double side sliding doors.

Agility and safety thanks to sophisticated independent wheel suspension

The Combo also has a leading position in its class in terms of driving performance as well as active and passive safety. The innovative, independent bi-link rear suspension delivers optimum comfort and enhanced handling. The compact dimensions and kinematic characteristics of the rear axle link enable the transportation of Euro palettes.

Customers can chose from further safety options depending on their requirements. All passenger car versions (M1) come as standard with the electronic stability program (ESP) and an anti-slip regulator (ASR). A Hill Holder system is also integrated. It is activated after the brake pedal is released and then maintains the brake pressure for a short while so that the vehicle can move forwards or backwards on hills without rolling.

Broad powertrain spectrum and low operating costs

The Opel Combo offers a diverse and competitive spectrum of powertrains, including four diesel engines, one gasoline unit and a CNG version (Compressed Natural Gas). All engines apart from CNG, are available in the particularly fuel efficient and environmentally sound ecoFLEX variant with Start/Stop technology.

The Opel Combo diesel engines feature the latest common-rail technology and are fitted with an oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter as standard. The entry-level 1.3 CDTI ecoFLEX with 66 kW/90 hp is one of the most economical engines in its displacement class in the Van-B segment, with average consumption of 4.8 to 4.9 liters per 100 km (depending on body version) and CO2 emissions of 126 to 129 g/km. The strongest diesel engine is the 2.0 CDTI with 99 kW/135 hp and 320 Nm maximum torque, making it a superior unit in its class. Customers who appreciate the qualities of a smooth gasoline engine will appreciate the 70 kW/95 hp 1.4 liter unit. Those who favor alternative propulsion can opt for the 1.4 CNG ecoFLEX engine (88 kW/120 hp) designed for dual fuel usage with gasoline and natural gas. This unit is particularly economical and environmentally compatible while offering considerable maximum range of up to 750 kilometers. In addition to fuel consumption, long service intervals help to reduce operating costs: for the gasoline and CNG models, a routine inspection is recommended every 30,000 kilometers, while the recommendation for diesel versions is every 35,000 km. This also gives the Combo a leading position in the European Van-B segment in terms of economy.

Ergonomic cabin design – practical equipment

The cabin of the Opel Combo is brimming with practical and user-friendly features. Ergonomic and easily accessible controls create a harmonious feel inside the cabin. The cabin layout is well thought-out and practical with a number of well-placed and functional storage compartments and shelves, the availability of up to seven seats (individual third row seats can be removed separately) and the 60:40 split of the foldable rear bench.

The Opel Combo is able to satisfy a wide range of diverse customer needs and equipment requirements with its three trim variants Essentia; Enjoy and Cosmo. Even the entry-level Essentia model already comes with a height-adjustable steering column, power front windows, driver airbag, ESP with Hill Holder system and ABS complete and with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) in the case of M1. Standard features in the passenger variant are up to four airbags, a child seat fixation in line with ISOFIX standards on the outer seats of the second row. The Cosmo passenger variant boasts specially combined interior and upholstery colors as well as further design, comfort and safety features according to customers’ individual tastes. The CD 50 multimedia package available for passenger and panel van variants includes stereo CD-radio with steering-wheel-mounted remote controls, Aux-in and USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity.
