This evening, Jaguar presented for the first time globally, its new Jaguar F-TYPE Coupe lineup, including a surprise debut of the high-performance F-TYPE R Coupe. The reveal marked a celebration of Jaguar’s evolution in high-performance models, including the F-TYPE Coupe, F-TYPE S Coupe and F-TYPE R Coupe. The milestone event was the first-ever announcement and unveiling of the headlining F-TYPE R Coupe, the supercharged V8 engine model, marking a significant achievement for the storied British brand in revolutionizing high speed performance vehicles. The breakthrough F-TYPE Coupe will make its global auto show premiere, tomorrow (Nov 20) at the 2013 LA Auto Show.
Jaguar celebrated its innovation in design and technology with a highly theatrical, show stopping reveal, produced by Imagination, introducing the most dynamic car reveal in the world at Raleigh Studios in Playa Vista, California. The evening captured the hearts of British and international fans of the brand, including Simon Cowell, Miranda Kerr, Nicholas Hoult, Joe Manganiello, Kelly Osbourne, David Gandy, Yasmin Mills, Jodie Kidd, singer-songwriter Andra Day, and host of CarCast Adam Carolla, as they celebrated Jaguar’s remarkable British heritage. The celebration was led by Director of Design for Jaguar, Ian Callum, and guests enjoyed live music by DJ/violinist duo Mia Moretti and Caitlin Moe.
“Creating a sports Coupe is the purest of design tasks and also the most challenging; get it right and aesthetically the result will be as dynamic as the car should be rewarding to drive. In F-TYPE Coupe, I believe we’ve got it right,” said Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar.
Callum adds, “The dramatic debut of the 550HP F-TYPE R Coupe in Los Angeles this evening – possibly the most dynamic reveal of a car ever – underlines its performance credentials.”
The all-aluminum F-TYPE Coupe range will deliver, in production form, the uncompromised design vision of the Jaguar C-X16 concept, and will complement the existing F-TYPE Convertible, winner of the 2013 ‘World Car Design of the Year’ award. The F-TYPE Coupe range adds to the existing three-car F-TYPE Convertible model line-up; the V6-engined F-TYPE (340hp) and F-TYPE S (380hp), and the F-TYPE V8 S (495hp), which launched last year. The F-TYPE Coupe also features ample trunk space, easily accommodating two sets of golf clubs, and is available with a power assisted tailgate. The new F-TYPE Coupe model line-up is headlined by the F-TYPE R Coupe, with a 550hp 5-liter supercharged V8 engine, enabling acceleration from 0-60 mph in 4.0 seconds, and a top speed of 186 mph (limited). The F-TYPE Coupe will go on sale in North America in spring of 2014.
